1. Adopt a Dog?

Are you lonely? Have your children grown up and left home? Do you feel depressed because you feel there isn’t anyone who loves you and appreciates you just because you’re you?

People say you can’t buy love or happiness, but I am here to tell you, you can. All you have to do is go to your local animal shelter because there you can find a sweet old shaggy dog, or a soft squeaky puppy that will be more than happy to share your life with you.

This new friend really will love you just because you are you. You don’t have to be beautiful, rich, or witty, because this new friend will think you are all of those things. You will never have to worry about coming home to an empty house again, because your dog will always greet you with an enthusiasm that is hard to ignore.

Save a life; adopt a dog this weekend. If you don’t have time for a young animal, adopt an older one that has less chance of finding a new home.

The Adopted Animal

Life is full of new beginnings––exciting things happen to us that we remember forever. When we are children, it’s a new pair of shoes that we can’t wait to wear; then we get that first bike, and later, a car of our own! The best of all is getting a new dog, and we are never too old to be excited about it. For those of us who remember our first bike, it doesn’t really matter that it wasn’t brand new, but fixed up; what was a discard for someone else became a treasure for us.

The same can apply to a dog that has been a discard for someone else––it can become our treasure if we know how to fix it up and repair the damage inflicted by the previous owner.
