Question 2: We have a very active, loud household, and sometimes we have pretty intense arguments.
Answer: The dog can’t understand human language, but when it hears angry voices and sees aggressive body language, it may think it’s in trouble. Even small children who understand what people are saying sometimes feel they’ve caused the trouble and withdraw into themselves. Put the dog outside while you argue.

Question 7: My dogs hate being put in the bathtub when it’s time for a bath.
Answer: That’s probably because the bottom of the tub is slippery, and dogs tend to panic when standing on a slippery surface. Get a rubber mat to put in the tub when you bathe the dogs.

Question 9: When I scold my dog, it urinates.
Answer: Don’t scold! This is so intimidating to the dog that it apologizes by urinating. Scolding can destroy a dog’s confidence in itself and in you.
Question 10: My dog is afraid to jump into the car.
Answer: Don’t let a dog younger than six months try to jump into the car. Lift its hindquarters instead, if it will rear up. Also, there are ramps you can buy for SUVs and trucks that dogs can walk up.
